me front, between moving out of my office (it is official, I am no longer employed by Morningside College), landscaping (I was just promoted yesterday to assistant crew chief), and of course working on selling the house. Anyway life is good, I like landscaping, and the house is still on the market.Anyway, back to Spain. Day five included a day trip to Toledo (pronounced Toe-lay-dough), yes the namesake of Toledo Ohio. In fact they are sister cities and one of the streets in Toledo Spain is named Toledo of Ohio. Picture number 1 is of me with Toledo in the background. It was a beautiful view that the pic does not do justice to, but maybe you will get the opportunity to visit yourself.
Overall, Toledo is a beautiful old walled city. It is most known for its cathedral (pic 2). Due its age of course, all of the streets were made wide enough for horse and buggy, not designed for automobiles. Of course, as you can see in pic 3, they have found a way to adapt. You better be able to manuever however, or you risk taking out a 800 year old building.
After a walking guided tour of the city with Mario (who is very proud of his city) we had quite a bit of time to explore Toledo ourselves. Earlier in the morning before the tour we also toured a sword factory. Finally, in the evening we performed our third concert in as many days, this time in a park outside of the walled city (pic 4). It was nice playing outdoors, and reminded me of our municipal band concerts here in Sioux City. There is just something really enjoyable abou
t an outdoor band concert on a beautiful spring, summer or fall day. After the concert we drove back to the hotel in Madrid for dinner. It was another great day. It was nice that we could see so many cool cities and sights while remaining centered in Madrid.
