What a beautiful fall day we've had today--perfect for taking the kids out for Halloween. This is also Cliff's last football-free weekend until Thanksgiving, so we are enjoying a relaxing family weekend. Last night, all four of us went to a pizza place for a birthday party for some friends of ours, a husband and wife who both turned 50 this fall. The kids had a blast eating pizza and cake and running amuk in the place and were very well behaved considering that the party STARTED at their bedtime :-) Needless to say, they got to bed very late, but the upside was that all four of us were in bed until 9:30 today......ahhhhhhhh......what a relaxing start to our weekend!
This afternoon, we got the kids dressed up to go to a trick-or-treating event in the parking lot of a nearby supermarket. There were vendors from area businesses handing out treats, and the kids got lots of 'different' treats in addition to candy--cans of soda, mini boxes of Apple Jacks, popsicles and a hot dog. After that, we came home and did some trick-or-treating with the neighbor kids up and down our street. The kids had a blast doing this and, in total, brought home quite a bit of loot!
This year, we once again wanted to come up with costumes at home that cost little or nothing. We managed to come up with something for each of them without spending a dime:

"Dr. Laura"

"Nathan the Nerd"
Happy Halloween, everyone!!
