Vacation Days 7-9

On Day 7 of our vacation, we knocked down our campsite in Charleston and headed north to Myrtle Beach.  After 6 nights of camping in the heat, we treated ourselves to an air-conditioned, ocean view hotel room for 2 nights.  When we checked in, we threw on our suits right away, ran out to the beach, got in the water up to our ankles.....and then the red flags went up.  A storm was rolling in and the lifeguards called us all out of the water.  It was still fun to get our toes wet and play in the sand before heading out for the evening.  We spent our first evening strolling around Barefoot Landing, a nice outdoor mall in North Myrtle Beach.  We enjoyed dinner out, shopping and ice cream.

The view from our hotel room balcony was great!
The next morning, we wasted no time hitting the beach.  After breakfast, it was time for ocean fun!  Laura has really taken to the ocean, and Nathan got a little braver each time out.  He sure had his own fun with his bucket and shovel on the beach!

This girl has become a beach babe!
Having fun in the ocean.
After the beach, we enjoyed lunch out and mini golf.  There are SO many mini golf courses to choose from in MB, but we picked a great one.  Mt. Atlanticus offered two courses, and the one we picked alternated between being outside and being in shade; a perfect way to handle the afternoon heat!

Lining up the putt at Mt. Atlanticus.
In the evening we headed to another outdoor mall/entertainment area called Broadway at the Beach.  We enjoyed another dinner out, and the kids each got to pick one of the boardwalk attractions to do.

Nathan picked the motorcycle ride.
Laura did the super trampoline jump.  She was so excited!
For our final morning, Cliff and I got up at 5:45 to watch the sun rise over the beach.  I enjoyed it from our balcony, while Cliff went down to beach level to get some amazing photos.  Definitely worth losing a little sleep!

Almost time for sunrise and already so pretty!

Here comes the sun.....

Sunlight bursting over the horizon-beautiful!

These two had NO interest in getting up for the sunrise!
After the sunrise and breakfast, we squeezed in one last visit to the beach before we had to check out of our room.  It was so nice to have the ocean just a few steps from our hotel room and to hear the waves rolling from our balcony.  What a great way to end a great trip!

Writing in the sand with a seashell.

We love the beach!
We had a great time, but all good trips must come to an end.  We headed home from Myrtle Beach feeling like we had a great vacation.  We are so glad we got to spend these 9 days together as a family!
