Handy Grandpas and (finally) Christmas at Home

Our kids are very lucky to have two handy grandpas.  Each of the kids got handmade Christmas gifts this year.  Both have been big hits!

Grandpa Towner made Laura her very own balance beam so she can practice at home.

Grandpa Don made this awesome play table for Nathan.  It is perfect for Legos, Lincoln Logs, puzzles and whatever else he wants to do!
On Saturday, we finally were able to do our Christmas here at home, just the four of us.  It was nice to travel and see family over the holidays, but it was also great to finally have our own time at home too.

Everything ready and waiting for the kids to wake up Saturday morning!

Ready to open gifts!!
Nathan fell in love with this hat while Christmas shopping for Laura, so we secretly bought it for him.  This kid can pull off a pinstriped fedora!

Laura was excited to give Nathan the gift she bought him, a set of little foam air rockets.

Nathan loves his new Playmobil speed boat set!

The kids were excited to get a cornhole set for our yard.  It even folds up so we can take it camping.
Laura loves to help in the kitchen....so we got her her very own little kitchen.  The Easy Bake Oven!!

She got busy right away making mini-red velvet cupcakes.

Putting the pink frosting on her mini cupcakes.

Now, we are back to the routine of daily life.  Classes are underway at the college, and Nathan and Laura are back to their school routines too.   Normally this is my least favorite time of year.  I don't like winter, and I long for days when it isn't dark by 5:30.  But down here, we do get spoiled.  The forecasted high for this coming Saturday is 79.  That's pretty warm for January, even for central GA, but I will savor every bit of sweet warmth that comes our way.  That's the kind of "winter" that even I can put up with!
