Camping out

On Saturday evening, we went out on our first camping adventure in almost 2 years. We invited some friends, the Tacketts, to come with us. They have kids who are about the same ages as ours, so it's fun to let them play together. We loaded up all 4 adults, 4 kids and 2 dogs and headed to Ponca State Park, which is in northeast Nebraska about 20 miles from here. We found a nice site to put up both of our tents, got some firewood and cooked hot dogs and brats over the open fire. We also roasted marshmallows to make smores. After the kids went to bed, the grown-ups enjoyed some time talking around the campfire. It was a good time, and for the most part, we had perfect weather for it. We did wake up to rain on Sunday morning, but the tent stayed dry inside, so it was all good. Laura enjoyed sleeping in her new sleeping bag, and Nathan, once he got settled down, slept all night and didn't wake up until almost an hour after the rest of us. Cliff, Laura and I were in the tent talking and the Tacketts were right next to us taking down their tent, and he just kept sleeping. Good to know what a deep sleeper he can be, I guess!
