School Spirit

Well, it's almost Thanksgiving, which means we are almost one year into this blog already. This time of year, our house is full of school spirit for multiple teams. Cliff's involvement with the Cornhusker Marching Band has gotten us into Husker fever here. As I type, the Huskers are 9 minutes from claiming the Big XII north title and a trip to Texas for the Big XII championship game against the Texas Longhorns. After that, we will find out where the Huskers will be bowling. Last night, Cliff and I had our first date in a long time. We went to an area restaurant/bar for a night-before-the-home-football-game pep rally of sorts. A small pep band comprised of members of the marching band performs here the night before every home game. The place was packed and the atmosphere was so fun. We got there early, had some beers and fries, then enjoyed the band's 10pm performance. They play mostly classic tunes from the 70's and 80's, so we had fun watching 18-22-year-old college students rocking out to "Slow Ride", "Living on a Prayer", "Heartbreaker", etc.

In addition to the Huskers, we (mostly I) have been following the Buckeyes and enjoying watching them on Saturdays. Last week's game with Iowa was intense, and I frightened Nathan more than once with my cheering--the poor boy doesn't stand a prayer during basketball season! Speaking of that, the Musketeers and Bearcats are in full swing now, and we are looking forward to our annual tradition of watching the Crosstown Shootout in a few weeks. It's on ESPNU, so we'll have to go to a sports bar to watch it, but it will be fun. Also, the Bearcats are tearing up the Big East in football, which Cliff loves. And the Bengals are.....good??!!

The kids continue to amuse us. Nathan is starting to try to copy what we say, which can be pretty entertaining at times. He was cracking us all up last night with his attempts to say the name of the Disney movie we're watching, "Ratatouille" (it sounded like ah-tooey-tooey). We are pleased to see them play together on a regular basis now. There are fights, pushes and tears at times, but overall, they enjoy each other a lot. Nathan loves his "She-she" (what he calls Laura)!

Dancing together :-)

We're looking forward to some peaceful days during Thanksgiving break this week. Go Huskers! Go Buckeyes! Go Muskies! Go Bearcats!
