Crosstown Shootout

As most of you know, it is a tradition in our house to watch the annual Crosstown Shootout, the basketball grudge match between our two undergraduate universities, the University of Cincinnati (Cliff) and Xavier University (Gina). There is no love lost between these two schools, and it is a fun rivalry within our own household. This year's game had us in a bit of a bind--it was scheduled for a Sunday evening on ESPNU, a channel we do not get. We were lucky, however, to get a great invitation from some friends of ours here in Lincoln who happen to also be former Cincinnati residents. Not only did they invite us over for the game since they have ESPNU; they also offered to make us their best replication of Skyline Chili to eat while we watched. So, we all went to the other side of town for an evening of basketball, good food and friends. The kids had a blast running around their house, and the game lived up to expectations. UC came in ranked, but Xavier has dominated in recent years, so this game was close and exciting the whole way. It ended with an 83-79 double overtime win for Xavier, making me a very happy lady tonight.
Here is a picture of the family dressed for the game. Notice that I diplomatically put one kid in a UC hoodie and one in a Xavier hoodie? :-)
Now, to show how we really felt about the game's outcome-
A good time was had by all, even if the outcome couldn't please us all.

That game was indeed a 3-hour heart attack. Every time I think I can jump onboard and think Mick's got things together, he pulls another dud. Oh well. Have fun in SD you guys. And if you see your kicker there in Lincoln, smack him for me...and for all the fans in Cincinnati.
