So last year, we got a ton of snow in Iowa, but here in Lincoln, winter was a little milder. Well.....it seems that where we go, the snow goes, because we got pounded with a big storm this week! It started with a couple of inches of snow on Sunday night; no big deal, but enough to put a white blanket on the ground. The real snow started Monday night when we were going to bed, and it didn't stop until sometime AFTER we went to bed last night (Tuesday night). Now our 2-inch blanket of snow is more like an 8-10-inch blanket of snow, at least (not including drifts, of course). Add to that the high winds and cold temperatures, and you've got yourself a winter storm! Lincoln Public Schools cut busing kids several years ago for budgetary reasons, so we've been told that school delays are non-existent here (it's too complicated with parents dropping their kids off)--they either have school, or they don't. This has been proven true this week; for both yesterday and today, we got an automated call from Laura's school telling us that school would be closed the following day. This has allowed us the luxury of sleeping in instead of getting up early and watching the announcements on TV. Also, the university closed at noon yesterday and decided on Tuesday evening to close for all of Wednesday. The YMCA also closed early Tuesday and is closed all day today. That only means one thing.....snow days for the whole family!!! It's given Cliff the gift of time for getting final projects done, the kids time to be home together to play, and my body time to recover from incessant water workouts. Everybody wins! Here are some photos from our big storm:
The scene out front....

The scene out back......

The scene inside--toys EVERYWHERE!!

Hope you all are staying warm wherever you are!
