Mr. Personality

As Nathan rapidly approaches his 2nd birthday, it is becoming more and more fun just to spend time watching him play and to interact with him. His personality has really blossomed in the last few months. He is very, very verbal these days, and it is not uncommon for him to repeat everything you say to the best of his ability--watching your language is a must around this little boy! He is now stringing together 3-5 words phrases, and is very interested in possession. He likes to point out things (anything-books, toys, body parts) and announce who they belong to. Examples: "That my milk.", "That Laura's sweatshirt.", etc. He has expanded this now to include location of the item in question (i.e. "That my water over there."). He is also extremely proud of his growing independence. He will constantly run up to me to exclaim in a delighted voice little details like "Go down steps myself." "Wearing slippers!" (He just got his first slippers and is quite attached to them!) He is quite a character too. Today, he saw his reflection in the TV screen and waved at himself. This then devolved into a game of him and I playing peek-a-boo with ourselves in the TV and him laughing hysterically. He and Laura are little buddies too. We often find them doing things like "playing hotel" in their bedroom closet or crawling around on the floor panting and barking like puppies together. These two sure keep us busy, and there are always fights to be broken up, but their silliness and laughter brings so much enjoyment to our household. I always saw myself as being a mom to girls, so naturally I was thrilled when Laura arrived. When Nathan was born, though, one of my first thoughts was "A boy??!! I don't understand little boys!" Well, I must say that I LOVE having this little guy in the house. What a thrill to watch these two grow and accomplish new things everyday!
