Sakes Alive, She's Already Five!!!

Where did the five years go already?? This last Sunday, Laura celebrated what some might consider her first 'milestone' birthday. She has been excited for months to turn 5, and the day has finally come and gone. We spent the day exactly as we hoped---all home together as a family relaxing and playing. Laura's first birthday surprise came when she woke up to find all of the balloons we quietly put in her bed with her while she slept. She said she was "so shocked" to wake up to balloons. After a relaxing morning that included opening presents and an iChat with Grandma & Grandpa T., we had a brunch chosen by the birthday girl, savory sausage breakfast rolls, followed by cupcakes (Dessert after brunch??? Ah, it was her birthday!). We then Skyped with Grandma & Grandpa H. before spending the rest of the day playing with her presents. All in all, a great birthday!

All the gifts she got at her school birthday celebration last Friday:

Ready to open gifts on Sunday:

Her first "big girl" necklace from Gma & Gpa H.:

Fancy Nancy puzzle, one of 3 puzzles she got to challenge her 5-year-old brain:

Custom-made CD of Laura's favorites from Mom & Dad:

The latest installment of Mom's classic Barbie collection:

Ready to blow out the candles on her strawberry cupcakes with chocolate frosting. She said she wanted these b/c she like pink, and the brown frosting would match her hair. :)

Nathan has been enjoying the cupcakes too!
