Ten years ago today, I was a young, first-year teacher at McNicholas High School. Some of my students were in the band, and so I decided to go to the spring band concert to support them, and to hear them perform with my alma mater's (Xavier's) band. At the concert, they mentioned that the band director, Mr. Towner, was celebrating his birthday that day. Since we knew each other outside of school because of my involvement in the community band he directed, I went up and gave Mr. Towner a 'happy birthday' handshake after the concert. Little did we know then that ten years from that day we would be living in our 4th home together (preparing to move on to our 5th one) and celebrating a big birthday for Cliff with our two children. We've come a long way, baby. Happy Birthday, Cliff! I love you!
