The Next Chapter

It has been a three-year journey, and though it is not quite over yet (my final document will be completed this summer), I just completed my final week of classes as a student. My course work for this D.M.A. degree is now complete and I am a document away from being Dr. Towner. On top of my course work, GTA responsibilities and family duties, I also have been spending quite a bit of time this year searching for job. And that search has also come to an end.

I have recently accepted the position of Director of Band Activities and Assistant Professor of Music at Georgia College & State University, located in Milledgeville, Georgia. That is right, the Towners are moving to the south. Georgia College is the state's public Liberal Arts University and has a student population of around 5,000. The band program shows great potential, and I am really looking forward to digging in and working with the fabulous students and colleagues that I met when I was there interviewing in February. We will be relocating in the middle of July, once things are completed here in Lincoln. So as the current chapter of our lives comes to a close, we begin preparing for the next. We are excited about our new adventure, and are also enjoying a last few months in Lincoln. We have thoroughly enjoyed this city and the people in it that we have interacted with.
