Zoo fun!

As part of our "Nebraska Farewell Tour", we spent yesterday making one last fun trip to Omaha. The centerpiece of the day was a trip to the Henry Doorly Zoo. People around here pride themselves on having one of the best zoos in the country, and trust us, this zoo does not disappoint. We had made a visit there back in March '06 and have always wanted to return (Laura was just a baby back then). We all had a blast. We saw tons of great animals, rode the Skyfari (a ski lift ride over the zoo exhibits) and had a fun family day.

Ready to start the fun!!

I love this; it looks like the tiger is sneaking up on them!

The gorillas were a highlight for all of us. This one was lounging and relaxing just below us.

Feeding birds in the Budgie Encounter.

Petting the goats in the children's area.

Ready for a picnic lunch!

Who's bigger....Nathan or this fish?

Who doesn't love penguins???

After the zoo, we had one final dinner at Upstream Brewing Company in the Old Market area of downtown. This place is a favorite of ours, especially Cliff who loves to fill up his beer growlers and bring some of their brew home. Finally, we made a stop at my favorite store, Half Price Books. I got addicted to this place back in Cincinnati, so I was thrilled when they opened one in Omaha a few years ago. For the first time in a long time, I did not spend more on purchases than I made selling my old stuff. All in all, it was a fabulous family day!
