Disney World #2: Animal Kingdom (sort of) & Epcot

On Wednesday of our trip, the kids stayed back at the resort with Grandma and Grandpa. While they spent the day swimming at the resort and eating and shopping in Downtown Disney, Cliff and I had the opportunity to spend the day just the two of us. What a nice treat! We started our day by heading out to Animal Kingdom with one goal in mind: ride the Expedition Everest roller coaster. Unfortunately for us, after being in line for the ride for about 10 minutes, the ride broke down indefinitely and the line was cleared. Since we had lunch reservations at Epcot, we decided to cut our losses; we rode a different, smaller coaster and got on the bus to Epcot.

Our excited pose in front of Expedition Everest....before it broke down. :(

At Epcot, we had a fabulous day. We split our day pretty evenly between riding the attractions and walking through the International Showcase. We enjoyed riding Soarin', Test Track, Mission:SPACE and Spaceship Earth, and we loved visiting attractions such as Turtle Talk with Crush and the Impressions de France movie. We also enjoyed some great food (particularly at lunch, as you'll see below), and we got to see a wonderful fireworks show at the end of the night.

We went back to "France" later in the day so I could have a crêpe for a snack:

It was so great to have a day to spend with each other; just the two of us like old times. Many thanks to Grandma & Grandpa for making it possible!!

More to come on our Disney adventures soon!
