Laura had a great week at Georgia College's soccer camp.

| Ready for the last day of camp on Thursday morning. |
We are very proud of Laura. She has never once played a competitive team sport, and she is not typically someone who likes to run a lot or get dirty. We weren't sure how she would do at soccer camp, but it was her idea to sign up. We signed her up for a 4-day, half-day camp. The very first day, I dropped her off knowing it would rain that day. I thought (per the camp information sheet demanding regular tennis shoes in addition to cleats, in case they had to go inside for camp due to inclement weather) she'd be playing inside most of the day. It turns out the stipulation about regular tennis shoes is really only for dangerous inclement weather (i.e. lightning). When I picked Laura up, she (and all of her stuff) was soaked and muddy. Turns out they spent all three hours playing in the rain that day. To my pleasant surprise, she was very chipper and had a smile on her mud-streaked face. She even found the humor in the fact that as soon as we got home, the sun came out. We just laughed and put her cleats, tennis shoes and shin guards in front of a fan to dry.
Overall, she seemed to really enjoy the camp and she seems to have learned quite a bit, especially considering she had virtually no soccer background before.
While Laura was at camp each morning, Nathan and I had to keep busy in our own ways. This, of course, involved some time at the library Wednesday morning for their Wonderful Wednesday program. This week, they let the kids decorate mini-flower planters and then plant a sunflower seed in it, all to go along with the Summer Reading Club theme of "Dig into Reading." Another highlight of our mornings together was a trip to Ryal's Bakery for a smiley-face cookie. :)

This coming week, neither kid has a camp, so we are looking forward to enjoying some pool time and bowling with friends, along with seeing our favorite magician at the library on Wednesday. Cliff has survived the first of three weeks of music camps at the college. Jazz camp went off very smoothly last week. The kids and I enjoyed going to the final concert of the camp on Thursday afternoon. We've really enjoyed having Cliff home for a couple of days before he has to head back to campus and dorm life for camp #2 (symphonic & drum major camp) tomorrow.
