Camping Season

Over the weekend, we busted out our camping supplies for the first time since last summer's vacation.  We, along with our friends the Callenders, headed an hour NW of home to Indian Springs State Park for two nights of camping.  We got 2 sites side-by-side, set both of our tents up on one site, and set up our camp chairs and dining tent on the other.  We had a great time hanging out, cooking great meals (FYI: walking tacos are an awesome camp meal!) and watching the 4 kids play.  We also managed to spend a couple of hours swimming in the lake on Saturday.  Another highlight was playing a fun, new game the Callenders brought, Cards Against Humanity, after the kids went to sleep.  We had a great time laughing and had to be careful not to wake up/disturb our camping neighbors!  We had great weather for the trip, and on Sunday, we managed to get our gear loaded into the cars just as the first rain drops of the weekend fell.  All in all, a successful weekend of camping....too bad I never remembered to get the camera out all weekend!

Now, we've entered another kind of camping season, summer camp season.  Nathan is participating in his second year of Ms. Ruby's Tiny Act camp this week.  He has been loving it; today he hopped out of the car and ran in before I had the car locked!  Stay tuned for pictures soon!  Next week, Laura will be running her tail off at soccer camp.  More on that later.

Today, we went to the library (surprise...we're never there, right?) for this week's Wonderful Wednesday show, a ventriloquist/magician/comedian named Cliff Patton.

The kids had a great time watching the show today.  They really enjoyed the ventriloquism.  Laura even tried to sing "Twinkle, Twinkle Little Star" on the way home without moving her lips. :)

This afternoon, while Nathan was at Tiny Act, Laura and I joined our friends Joy & Emma Kate for a trip to the Natural History Museum at Georgia College.  The girls got a nice lesson about evolution and primate skeletal development, and then we got to watch two different shows in the planetarium.  The girls had a great time!

In other big news here, Laura has officially been invited to join the pre-team at her gymnastics studio.  This is a big deal for her, and she was very excited.  If she trains successfully with the pre-team for awhile, she may even make the competition team some day.  This week, she started training 2 afternoons per week with the pre-team.  So far, she is enjoying it a lot, and she is so happy to be reunited with her friend Riley.

Summer vacation plans continue to develop here.  We've made more hotel reservations and are starting to plan more details for our big road trip in July!
