As many of you know, our days living here are quickly running out. For those of you who don't, here is the rundown. We decided last fall that now is the time for Cliff to get his doctorate. He really likes college teaching, and ultimately wants to do it at a bigger university. To be eligible for those jobs, this degree is necessary. So, we've decided to leave SC and head to Lincoln for 2 years so he can devote himself to getting it done before the kids are bigger and harder to move around. As I said, we made the decision in the fall, but the reality of it is just now coming to fruition. Cliff has resigned his job as of the end of the school year, and we just had a realtor out a week or so ago. We are now in the middle of deciding when to list the house in relation to where we want to be living over the summer. I've also been on the phone making appointments to see apartments in Lincoln and scoping out water aerobics jobs at the fitness clubs there. In addition, we will soon need to apply for Laura's preschool, apply for the kids' insurance, etc., etc., etc. It is all a little stressful, but exciting at the same time. It will be an interesting 2 years exploring a new city, living in an apartment again (and all the pros and cons that go with it--at least I'll have less house to clean for 2 years!), becoming part of Husker Nation, and having one of us be a grad student again. The real excitement for me is wondering where we will end up after the 2 years are over. All we know right now is that we'd like to be somewhere warmer--we've had enough of Iowa winters this year!!!!!!
So, we hope everything continues to fall into place. The kids and I are going down to Lincoln Monday when Cliff has class. We have 3 apartments to look at and I'm also visiting the health clubs to apply for work there. Our realtor is very confident he can sell the house quickly, and we believe him given his incredible track record at selling houses quickly. Like I said, we hope it all falls into place. We will keep you posted......
And just for fun, here are some pictures of the kids!
