Well, after weeks of ridiculously cold temperatures, we have finally gotten a bit of a reprieve. We have had highs above freezing most of the week and will continue to into this week. When you walk outside, you can hear the wonderful trickling sounds of melting snow. We are even scheduled to get rain tomorrow. I can't even remember the last time that we had precipitation in purely liquid form. Hopefully the skating rink along the edge of our driveway will be gone after tomorrow.
On the home front, the kids continue to keep us busy. Nathan turned 11 months old this last week, so we are already starting to think ahead to the big birthday--can't believe it's almost here! He now is sporting all 4 front teeth and is starting to learn to wave and clap which is so, so cute. Today, sadly, he has had a little stomach bug to deal with. Nothing big, but definitely still bothering him.
Laura is officially entering the scary 1/2 year stage Cliff read about in a book awhile back. The book theorized that kids have calm stages nearer to their birthdays and hit rough patches around the 1/2 birthday mark. Well, she is heading to 3 1/2 for sure! She wavers between stubbornly independent (I want to do it! Laura likes to do things herself. --and yes, she does refer to herself in the 3rd person) and whiny/clingy/needy (MOM! I want you!!! I need help!!!). She has also taken to telling Nathan "No!" when he tries to explore, to which I reply that it is Mom and Dad's job, not hers, to police Nathan's whereabouts. She is still overall the great, happy kid she's always been, but she does have her potential for meltdowns. This, too, shall pass......
