Open Wide!!

Laura had a new first this week, a trip to the dentist. On Wednesday, as a part of our bimonthly Daddy/Daughter dates, Laura and I visited our dentist. She had been with Gina a few months ago to observe, but this time it was for real. Laura went first. The hygienist was great and showed her all the tools and explained how the polisher worked. She then polished Laura's teeth. The dentist then entered and checked her teeth. Gina and I had discovered earlier that Laura has 21 teeth (ll on the bottom) instead of the standard 20. There is no split tooth, but 21 separate teeth. Our dentist said this was only the 2nd time in her career that she had seen this. We knew Laura was special, but extra teeth!?!. Anyway, after getting the all clear, she picked her toy out of the box (airplane) and then played in the childroom while dad was cleaned and polished. Laura had a blast. She loved going to the dentist and talked about it all day long! It is amazing what opinion a child will create on her own when she is allowed to experience an event without "warnings" from the adults.
