Hi all! Well, it's about time for me to turn in for the night here, and somewhere on the other side of the world, my husband and a group of bleary-eyed students are awake (sort of) and en route to the Madrid airport to catch their first flight toward heading home. They will fly from Madrid to Amsterdam, then to Detroit, then to Omaha. They're scheduled to arrive in Omaha around 8:40 tomorrow night, then will bus back here. Laura is very excited that when she wakes up on Friday, Daddy will be in the house once again :-)
As for those of us who are state-side....we've had a fine few days with little to report. It's been very hot here (mid 90's for three days straight), but I've managed to not give in and turn on the A/C just yet. We spent Sunday tooling around town while strangers looked at our house (open house and a showing). Monday and Tuesday were very low-key, but we managed to sneak in some lawn mowing and a trip to the park. This evening, we were supposed to have a MOPS family picnic at a local park, but they canceled it due to the "extreme winds". Now, I'm all for staying safe in extreme weather, but this just seemed a little more than insane to me. It was kind of windy here the last 2 days, but definitely not anything that would justify avoiding a picnic! It was a bummer because I would've enjoyed seeing my friends, and I know Laura would've had a blast at the playground, but she actually took it very well. We went out for some groceries instead, and then we came home and played while watching the season finale of American Idol together. Laura's constant question was "Will there be more girls?" Seems she has a strong preference for female singers even at this young age.
I was able to talk to Cliff quite a bit on Monday and Tuesday since his hotel had free wi-fi. The trip has gone very well. I think the last performance got to him a little bit, as this was his last time performing with these students. They spent the last few days in Sevilla. They toured the city and got to enjoy a dinner Flamenco show last night which Cliff described as one of the highlights of the whole trip. He has said repeatedly while there that we need to come back just the 2 of us (meaning Europe in general, not necessarily just Spain), so I think we both are envisioning all the possibilities of a trip abroad someday in the future. I know I'm up for it!!! I'm sure we will post in a few days when Cliff has had time to recover from his trip--I'll make sure he includes a couple of pictures!
