Happy Mother's Day....Now 11 Days on My Own

I hope everyone had a great Mother's Day. I spent mine just as I'd hoped--hanging out with my family. We had a lazy morning and spent some time at the park later in the day. I also helped Cliff pack for Spain. Today, the kids and I dropped him off on campus for the start of his 11-day adventure touring Spain with the Symphonic Wind Ensemble. I have to admit, much like when I dropped him off for RAGBRAI 2 years ago, it was hard to drive away. This will officially trump RAGBRAI as the longest he's been away since I've known him. After a period of feeling a little lonely and down in the dumps this afternoon, the kids and I had a pretty good evening-trip to the library, dinner on the deck, playing, baths and early to bed. Now I'm enjoying the nice part of this whole 11 days--alone time every night from about 9-11pm. I do have plans for lots of scrapbooking, reading, movie/DVD-watching and Facebooking during this time every night. But for tonight, I'm taking it pretty easy and trying to get to bed a little early (anyone who knows me knows that this will most likely not happen as I am a night person by nature--this was my nemesis when I was still teaching!!).
As for Cliff, I will continue to keep my fingers crossed for his flight plan. They left campus at 1:30 today for Omaha for a 5:10 flight to Detroit. (Then they were to connect to Amsterdam, then Madrid.) At 6:30 I got a text that they were still in Omaha (grrrrrr). At 8:00, he called to tell me they were in Minneapolis??!!! (Now keep in mind that if they left campus on the bus at 1:30 and DROVE to Minneapolis, they would've been there at least 2 hours sooner!!) Turns out they were re-routed b/c of some delay with the first flight. Now they should be flying from Minneapolis to Amsterdam, after which they will have exactly 10 minutes to make their flight to Madrid. Hopefully they will get to Amsterdam early, otherwise they will almost certainly miss the next flight, which could them get them to Madrid as much as 12 hours late (grrrrrrr again). I'm sure it will all work out, but they have a lot of instruments and equipment that need to make all these changes too, so here's hoping it works out! I will update more later (if he doesn't do it himself from Spain)!

Hey, Gina. You could pass the time by making a trip to Cincy! ;-) Hang in there, girl. I would go absolutely and completely crazy without Matt for that many days! I'll be thinking of you! Steph
