Visit with Grandma & Grandpa

Well, today marks the first day of a new semester, Cliff's second as a doctoral student here at UNL. It's been an interesting day trying to get back into some semblance of regular life after having several weeks with us all home together. The weather has only added to this--there was the Christmas Blizzard, of course, which canceled Cliff's trip to the Holiday Bowl and kept us all here together. Then, last week brought another round of winter weather only a couple days into Laura's return to school. After 2 days of school, she ended up having the rest of the week off due to snow, followed by wickedly cold temperatures (can we say -30 wind chills??!!). Last week also was our holiday visit from Cliff's parents. They arrived on Monday and pulled out of town Sunday morning to begin heading home. We had a great visit with them, but as I said, all of this time off, the visit, the bad weather keeping us at home.......well, the alarm clock was a little brutal this morning. :)
Anyway, the kids had a blast having Grandma & Grandpa here for the whole week. For Christmas, Nathan got a big Tonka dump trunk and Nerf balls. He was thrilled with it immediately.
Laura got a beautiful doll with it's own hairbrush and extra outfit. She was thrilled too!
Nathan liked trying on Grandma's winter hat. :-)
On Saturday, we went to Ager Indoor Play Center here in Lincoln. The kids had a great time. Nathan was still too small to play in the big play structure, but he had fun in the "under 3" gated play area.
Grandpa gave Laura a wagon ride and showed her all of the tunnels and slides there were to explore.
Grandpa rescued Nathan from the "under 3" area to take a few laps together on a scooter.
Now it is back to normal life for the time being. My parents' visit was delayed due to the weather, so we will hopefully see them in the next few weeks too.
