Tiny Act

One of the first friends I made here in Georgia told me back last August, "Next summer, you have to get your kids involved in Allied Arts."  Well, we took that piece of advice and signed the kids up for some art camps this summer.  Nathan's camp took place the first week of June.  Tiny Act was a 5-day, 2-hour per day camp for 3- and 4-year-olds.  The kids spent their time at camp honing their performing skills.  They got to dress up in cool costumes and go on stage to act out their characters.  They sang songs, danced, played instruments and played with ribbon sticks.  Miss Ruby is a very experienced teacher and very well regarded in this town.  She did a great job at getting the kids to try new things and learn some independence.  We loved that she even had the kids sign themselves in each morning; it was so cute to see their attendance sheet with all of their wobbly handwriting!  Nathan had SUCH a good time at Tiny Act!

When we dropped him off Monday morning, he went right to the business of playing with puppets with his friends.

Nathan had fun dancing.

Nathan loved that one of the "big kid" helpers (far left) was also named Nathan.

I think the drum is as big as he is!

Nathan and his buddy Joshua, the little drummer boys.

Nathan sits in the circle, right next to Miss Ruby, and learns about keeping rhythms with sticks.

On the final day of camp, the parents were invited to come in and watch the kids take turns performing on stage alone, then demonstrating some of what they learned as a group.  What a fun treat to see Nathan in this atmosphere!
Nathan's first trip on stage.  He gave a mighty dragon "ROAR!!!" in front of the whole audience.

For his second turn, Nathan performed as a monkey.  So cute!

Demonstrating 4-beat rhythms with rhythm sticks.

The whole class used ribbon sticks to perform to "La donna è mobile."

Taking their final bows!

Thanks, Miss Ruby, for providing such a special week for the kids!
