Library Fair & Slumber Party

Decorating a tote bag at the library fair.
Last Saturday was a fantastic day!  We started out the morning with Nathan's soccer game and the annual library fair.  I got plenty of great books and videos at the fair for the whole family, and the kids had a great time playing the carnival games, jumping in the bounce house and getting their faces painted.   We love our library, and this event is a great time for us and a great way to give back to them.

Nathan picked balloons for his face paint.
Laura chose a ladybug.
In the afternoon, we watched the Huskers destroy Idaho State and prepared for the craziness that was to come that evening.....Laura's first slumber party!  Five friends came over to spend the night and celebrate Laura's birthday with her.  We started the evening out playing outside, including games of tag and four-square.

Four-square in the driveway.
Cliff made a great campfire in the backyard and had the dining tent set up for dinner.  The girls seemed to really enjoy our campfire dinner of hot dogs, campfire nachos and s'mores.

The girls each got to construct their own bowl of nachos to put on the fire.

Once it got dark, we moved inside to open presents.  The girls again played tag, this time inside, until the sugar from the s'mores wore off.  Then it was time for PJs, sleeping bags and Pocahontas.  After the movie, there was another 45 minutes or so of chitter chatter before I managed to get them to settle down to sleep.  I am happy to report that there were 6 snoring girls by 11pm.
Everyone gathers to watch Laura open her presents.

The whole gang.

Nobody knocked on our door all night....but all the girls were up and running around by 6:30am the next morning!  We had a nice morning of playing and eating breakfast before everyone went home.

6:30am on Sunday....all 6 girls huddled together on Laura's bed.

Sunday morning Barbies.

Enjoying breakfast!
Laura's friends are really great girls.  Everyone seemed to have a good time, and Laura was very thrilled with her party and her thoughtful gifts.  I needed a nap late Sunday morning, but really we couldn't have asked for the party to go better.  It certainly was fun to watch Laura be silly with her pals!
