The Pride of All Nebraska

Hello! Today is Laura's 4th birthday. It's hard to believe it's been 4 years; she has brought so much sunshine into our lives. We had a very nice day. It is game day here in Lincoln, so we are deferring our official family celebration until tomorrow, but we did do some fun things on her actual birthday. I loaded up the kids and my neighbors and their two kids into our van, and we all headed to the stadium to watch the Cornhusker Marching Band (aka "The Pride of All Nebraska") in their game day open rehearsal. It's not as powerful as seeing them in uniform in front of 85,000 people, but it still gives those of us without game tickets a look. I took a few pictures of them:
During the pregame show, Cliff gets to conduct from a nice, tall ladder in the south end zone.

Here is one of the 2 "N's" the band forms during pregame. They also spell out "Huskers" during pregame, but I didn't get a shot of that. Still, it's impressive to have enough people to spell out a 7-letter word.
After the rehearsal, we met Cliff for a nice picnic under a shade tree on campus, complete with birthday cupcakes. When the kids and I got home, our neighbors across the street came over with a piece of homemade chocolate cake with peanut butter frosting for the birthday girl. After bath time, Laura and I snuggled on the couch with some popcorn and watched The Rescuers. Tomorrow, we'll celebrate as a family, so more pictures are on the way!
