Since Laura had both the Friday before and the actual day of Memorial Day off from school, it seemed like a good opportunity to get out of town for a few days. So, thanks to some planning from Cliff's mom several weeks ago, we made the 4-day weekend into a nice mini-vacation. We left Thursday after Laura got home from school and headed southeast to meet Cliff's parents at Pomme De Terre State Park in Pittsburg, MO. We shared a campsite for 4 nights and 3 relaxing days. Other than some slightly high temps in the mid afternoons and a short bout of rain on Sunday evening, we had glorious camping weather. Here's a look at what we did:
Evening campfire

Laura napping out in nature

Playing Old Maid together

Checking out the "touch table" animal demonstration

We rented a boat one morning for a fabulous time out on the lake.

In addition, we took a swim in the lake, took a short hike (that included seeing and holding a live turtle), and enjoyed sharing great meals at the campsite. All in all, a great weekend!

Hey you guys, great pictures. So happy you could have a weekend camping with the "Grandparents"
That sounds so fun. I really want to go camping....now if I can just get myself to do the work and prep it takes to actually go. :)
