Children's Museum at Navy Pier

Today,we took the 10 minute walk from our hotel down to Navy Pier.  The air was a brisk 25 degrees, but after the fog, rain and clouds yesterday, it was nice to see the sun.  We spent the day at the Chicago Children's Museum.  A full day of playing, including lunch in the Navy Pier food court, was a great way to spend our last day here!

"We're cold, Mom!  Can we just go inside already?!"

Trying on the fireman uniform.

Exploring in Water Ways.

Laura was excited to find a pulley after studying simple machines in science class.

Great view from the top floor of the museum!

Such simple, mess-free fun!

The "ice rink" was a huge hit.  The kids loved "skating" in their socks!

Nathan found a really cool truck in Kids Town.

We all loved the Invention Lab.  We enjoyed taking turns building our flying machines and cranking them up high to test their flight capabilities.

The kids also loved the Skyline construction zone.  They spent a long time working with nuts, bolts, wing nuts and screwdrivers.

Heavy construction work.

"Unboxed" was the temporary exhibit.  Such a simple idea....cardboard boxes, scissors, tape and crayons.  The possibilities for the imagination were endless!

Nathan chose to build a skyscraper in the Unboxed area.
It was a great day.  After a walk back to the hotel, we had a snack, went to the pool, and wound down the night with baths and dinner.  We are all looking forward to hitting the road tomorrow for Ohio!
